Jill & I started a short trip to Tasmania last night. I took the car across on the Spirit of Tasmania to Devonport while Jill caught a Qantas flight the next morning.
I boarded the ship at 8.00pm and found my cabin on Level 7. By then I was rather hungry so I settled in to the restaurant for a rather nice meal. The ship left Melbourne at 9.00pm and I was ready for bed by about 10.00pm. By then we were halfway down Port Phillip Bay. We passed through the heads at 11.00pm. The cabin was only small with two beds and I dozed rather than really slept.
The Bass Strait crossing was quite smooth and the last part into Devonport was like a mill pond. The Purser gave everyone a wakeup call at 5.30am, telling us that we would arrive in Devonport at 6.30am (half an hour early). We were progressively called to our cars. Mine was on level 6 and one of the last to drive off.
Now it’s time to head for the airport to meet Jill off her flight.
