Vienna

It would be very easy to get tired of seeing another city, but our visit to Vienna, the capital of Austria,  was quite inspiring.

In the morning, we did a city tour that took us to some of the main sites – the Hapsburg family winter palace and to the Opera House. It seems that there is a grand and noble building on every major intersection. We were feeling  a bit flat on this day and we didn’t do justice to Vienna. We could have spent the afternoon in the city, but we chose to catch up with a few administrative things back at the ship. Anyway, this place really demands a week of visiting time, rather than the one day that we had allocated. We will have to return one day and combine a trip to both Vienna and Prague.

Our highlight of the day was a private concert played for us at the Luxembourg Palace – a wonderful building in baroque style. The orchestra played superbly. After the concert, it was back on the buys and then home to the ship for a good night’s sleep.

This was or last day in France.  We had all day to get to the airport at Bordeaux from where our flight to London left at 7.30 pm. We thought that we could use some of the time by driving north to  the town of Erignac to seem some rather beautiful gardens. They were large and […]
